Exclamation Mark!

This week we read another book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal as part of our Global Read Aloud.  It was called, Exclamation Mark.  It was very rich in language and the illustrations made us laugh at times.  While Mrs. Betts read the story, she asked us to think about what the exclamation mark was used for in writing.  We had so many ideas!

After we had finished reading we used coloured felts to write words that we thought should have an exclamation mark so the reader would read them with expression.

On the back of our paper we practiced writing sentences that had an exclamation mark at the end.

Hmmmm..... not sure why this photo is upside down!  Can you still read it?

Do you try to use exclamation marks in your writing to make is sound more interesting to the reader?

  1. I sometimes think that I use the exclamation mark too often in my own writing! ~Lisa (Aaron's mom)
