Practicing our Measuring!

Last week we practiced measuring items accurately!  Here was the challenge we were given!

Our teachers wanted to see how accurate we are when we measure with rulers, so we began by choosing three objects to measure.  We lined them up on our desk and measured them ourselves.

Then another student came over to our desk and measured the same objects.  If our measurements were different, we met with our partner and remeasured the items to see where we went wrong.

Our teachers were impressed with how carefully we measured - We have learned how to measure accurately!  Here are a few tips to measure accurately!
  1.   Know what you are measuring
  2.   Go slow, measure twice to be sure
  3.   Line your ruler up carefully with the object you are measuring
  4.   Remember to start at  0
How do you use measurement at home and at school?  Do you use measurement in your job?
