Friend of Enemy?
Last Friday, Mrs. Heinrichs read us a book called Enemy Pie. It was a book about the perfect summer. That is, until Jeremy Ross moved into the house down the street and became neighborhood enemy number one. Luckily Dad had a surefire way to get rid of enemies: Enemy Pie. But part of the secret recipe is spending an entire day playing with the enemy! In this funny yet endearing story, one little boy learns an effective recipe for turning your best enemy into your best friend.
After reading the story, we practiced ways to start conversations with someone new. We used open-ended questions to help start the conversation, and then added something about ourselves to keep the conversation going. Sometimes getting to know someone helps to make them a friend - instead of an enemy!
How do you make new friends?
