Frankenbuddies!

The week before Halloween the Coyotes (which is our grade 2 buddy class) and us got together to read a Halloween story and then work cooperatively to make Frankenbuddies.  Our classes are side by side and have a movable wall between them.  We closed our wall and lined up in our own classes.  When we opened the wall we met our "frankenbuddy."  We do this a lot.  At first we didn't like working with someone we hadn't chosen but now we find it quite exciting to work with someone we have never worked with before!  After we met our buddy, we started to create a monster.  The only thing we had to have was one body and two heads.  The rest was up to us!  We could be as creative as we liked.  Some of us added scars, some of us added long eyelashes, some of our frankenbuddies even had long curly hair.  Some were very scary while some were very cute.  There was lots of conversation and give and take going on!

Have you ever worked collaboratively on an art project with another person?  Did you like it?  Have you ever worked with someone you didn't know before and then found out you had a lot in common?
